Calculator Features

• For 'Employed Persons': Single, Married or Widowed. PRSI Class A, public or private sector. Class D to follow.
• Tax years: 2009, 2010, 2011.Earlier years got to TaxCalc.eu/earlier/
• Monthly, weekly etc take home pay, PRSI
• Ability to switch between tax years on the fly (for direct comparisons)
• Context sensitive help.
• Copy output calculations to the clipboard (and then paste to a word processor or spreadsheet)
• Multi-Lingual including Irish (ok, that's not ready yet)
• Detailed account of every euro of you tax bill - go to the Details tab in Calculations & Info and open the folders & sub-folders
• Split panel to you can see more/less of calculations or input area
• Pensions can be included and are automatically calculated for Public Sector

What Browser do you need

 

You will need Java V1.6 update 10+ installed - this site will update or install if needed: http://java.com

The applet is known to run on current versions (as of Dec 2009) of the following browsers:

• Macintosh: Safari, FireFox (but some small problem with tab alignment....)
• Linux: Ubuntu 9.10/FireFox 3.5.3 - to install --> from console type: sudo apt-get install icedtea6-plugin
• Linux other: probaby any other Linux distribution with FireFox 3.5/Java 1.6.0_10 or later
• Windoze: FireFox, Internet Exploder, Opera, Safari, Chrome

What it doesn't do

• Printing - you can't print from the browser window. Instead copy and paste results to a word processor via the clipboard. You can print the examples tab - do a CNTRL-P
• Widowed - doesn't handle extra allowance if bereavement is recent.
• The PRSI figures assume you were paid roughly the same for each week during the year. PRSI A1 Only. D to follow.

The invormation you enter into the Tax Calculator is confidential to you. The tax calculations are done locally on your destop computer and no information you enter is transmitted back to this website or anywhere else (with some other calculators your data IS sent over the internet along with your IP address). Also, none of your information is stored on your PC or in your browser's cache. When you navigate away from this web page your data is gone, forever. Perhaps longer. The only network activity is initially when the program is downloaded by your browser over the internet from TaxCalc.eu server to your computer. After that an internet connection is no longer required and so, if you're paranoid, you can disconnect it.

If you report a problem then please try to give me enough information so that we can replicate the problem (Browser and version, OS and version, platform).
