Important information The Excel workbook uses 'Visual Basic for Applications (VBA or macros)' and a 'Data connection' for enhanced functionality. These features are sometimes disabled as a security measure (particularly in work environments). VBA is used by the workbook to respond to user inputs. This is to try and ensure that the workbook is as easy to use as possible for any particular user. For example, if the user specifies that they are employed in the 'Public sector', VBA displays additional rows of relevance to public sector staff. Another example is if you want to perform a 'net-to-gross' calculation, VBA unhides the sections where you enter the required data for the net-to-gross calculation. YOU MUST ALLOW VBA TO RUN IN EXCEL IN ORDER TO USE THE CALCULATOR- if VBA is blocked from running then this calculator will not function. ![]() The 'Data connection' is used to check if there is a newer version of the workbook available for download and prompts you if one is available. You don't need to enable the 'Data connection' if you are concerned about the security risks of so doing- this will mean that you won't be prompted about the availability of a newer version of the workbook. |
